Installation of BCM94311MCG wlan mini-PCI rev 02

Installation is easy, if you used ndiswrapper before it is even more easy. First you need to check what wifi card you got onboard. Open up terminal and type:

/sbin/lspci

If you receive line

Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM94311MCG wlan mini-PCI (rev 02)

read along, if you see something similar and Broadcom you may read further but you will need to use different drivers. Drivers can be found here. If you do not have card with Broadcom chipset i advise you to look for different page, unless you want to know how to install ndiswrapper.

All is good, all is fine when you use yum and livna repository to install that. If so, please type

su -c ‘yum install kmod-ndiswrapper’

That should take care of all dependencies. Next step is to turn modules b43, ssb and bcm43xx, these modules can stop ndiswrapper from working. You need to add these lines to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.

blacklist bcm43xx
blacklist b43
blacklist ssb

Afterwards you need to download drivers for your card or use ones that came with your pc. This wifi driver`s (Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM94311MCG wlan mini-PCI (rev 02)) can be downloaded from here http://ftp.us.dell.com/network/R151517.exe.  Unpack it and run

cd driver

ndiswrapper -i bcmwl5.inf

Should work after reboot. As Livio noticed in comments for better comfort you may issue this commands.

ndiswrapper -mi

ndiswrapper -ma

After each reboot card should come up.

As matter of fact i had to turn off WPA and WEP on my router as i was unable to connect. My security relies on MAC address which is not good.

Regards
